Pi-energy: from plastic waste to clean energy

Plastic is everywhere and pollutes our environment. We find it in our food, in our drinking water, in the roadsides, in the stomachs of animals and in the oceans.

Together we try to recycle as much plastic as possible, but unfortunately not all plastic is suitable for this. A widely used alternative, the incinerator, is also very damaging to the environment.

Pi-energy processes difficult or poorly recyclable plastics and turns them into sustainable energy in the form of hydrogen, electricity and pure gas.

2 global challenges, 1 sustainable solution

We are dealing with a plastic waste problem worldwide. Plastics such as plastics are difficult to recycle and are not degradable. As a result, it ends up in our environment (such as plastic soup), but also in our food (microplastics). In addition, harmful substances are released when burned.

A second challenge is to switch from fossil fuels as an energy source to sustainable sources. Coal, oil and biomass are fuels that are harmful to the environment. That is why we are working hard on new energy sources, such as sun, wind and hydrogen.

Pi-energy processes plastic waste and converts it into clean energy sources, such as hydrogen, electricity and clean gas. This solves two problems at once.

Pi-energy: cleaning up what others leave behind

Pi-energy processes old and hard-to-process plastic waste in a structural and environmentally friendly manner and continues where plastic collectors stop.

The unique method we use for this has a number of major advantages over other techniques for processing plastic waste.

In this way we ensure that the next generations can live in a clean (er) world without plastic waste. Pi-energy is the solution.

We only process hard-recyclable plastic and convert it into hydrogen and pure gas, which is stripped of all environmentally polluting additives that are often added to plastics. Consider, for example, flame retardants (halogens) in our electronic equipment.

We do not process plastic through a chemical process, but use thermal decomposition.

The processing process focuses on three energy sources that contribute to a clean, sustainable energy supply: hydrogen, green energy and green gas.

One kilo of plastic produces one cubic meter of gas. This makes it an efficient source of energy. So with 120,000,000 kilos of plastic we can produce 120,000,000 m³ of gas, enough for 100,000 households.

Pi-energy offers the method for environmentally friendly and complete processing of difficult-to-recycle plastics through THERMAL DECOMPOSITION, in line with the goals of the Clean Air Agreement.

The processing process is strictly controlled and takes place within the Netherlands, in accordance with international agreements. Furthermore, we are not dependent on other countries for the production of hydrogen.
